hanging the greens

After church, and a chili lunch in the parish hall, we gathered back in the church to hang the long garlands of pine, highlighting them with twigs of boxwood and big red velvet bows. Even the rood screen has been emellished with swooping swags of pine.

There are candelabras along the center aisle next to each row of pews, and they are tufted and draped with pine garlands and boxwood.

Tonight is Lessons and Carols and worship will be in small moments, as we begin the procession, or in listening to the readings. As Dr. Messina often says, our worship is sometimes in rehearsal and that will be the case this afternoon. Once in the service, there will be work, keeping track of what comes next.
