At evensong last night, we chanted the second verse of Veni Veni Emanuel as the antiphon for the Magnificat.

Karen at Heretic's Corner has an excellent explanation about the importance of these verses as ways to increase anticipation towards the end of Advent. In the past, we have chanted these verses between readings at Lessons and Carols, and Dr. Messina explained to me that this was never a stand alone hymn.
