sun

As cold as it is now, and it should be this cold in January here, there is something actually jubilant about the clear blue sky and brilliant sunlight this morning.

It's not uncommon around here to have milky gray skies for days on end, but we have been having several clear days lately.

Winter sunlight is much more dramatic now than later in the year, given the angle of the sun and the lack of leaf filtration that often blocks sunlight.

There was a bitter cold breeze this morning, but even that could not stop a feeling of gratefulness for the clear sunlight, making old white painted wood brilliant in its reflection of light. Definitely a morning to paint a picture if one is capable of doing that. I wish I were.
