Who's next, Mr. President?

Are we as a nation comfortable amending the constitution to create a second class citizenship? Anybody else we want to deny equal protection of the law? Any other families we want to strip legal protections and responsibilities from?

ADDED:

Of course, we don't have these legal protections yet. According to the President, it is the fear that we could get them that has caused him to come out in support of amending the U.S. Constitution.

Since the President refuses to explain what it is about gay folk and their union that is so unsettling to him, we are left with the observation that he is against commitment, love and family. Shelley has a suggestion. As long as it is imperative to amend the Constitution to protect the sanctity of marriage, let's go ahead and make divorce illegal, too.
