I was outside all day, finishing up the pile of limbs and brush from two weeks ago. I chopped each limb into small pieces and ended up filling several lawn bags with the debris.
The purpose of this was to not allow another pile of wood to build up in the backyard. I am still eying the old one in the back of the yard, behind a fir tree. I plan to deal with it over the summer.
This is the kind of work that I find not very satisfying (sort of like mowing the lawn or raking leaves).
At one point, neighbors came over and we expanded the group vegetable garden for a pumpkin patch. That is hard work, too, much more enjoyable.
I did get more of my plants in the ground. The rains during the past week kept them from drying out, but it was time to plant.
And I spent a bit weeding by hand the front beds. It's the best place to enjoy a garden, seeing the world framed by plants and flowers. My roses are all putting on buds (except the new ones, and they are all doing well). I think that it is fairly safe to say that one of my Mayflowers has died.
