how they voted

According to this news story from MSNBC, this is how the Senate voted on the motion for cloture, ending debate on same sex marriage. If the vote had reached the necessary 60 votes to end debate, the Senate would have then voted on the FMA amendment. That would have required 67 votes to pass.

For cloture (48 votes):

Sen. Robert Byrd of West Virginia (Dem)
Sen. Ben Nelson of Nebraska (Dem)
Sen. Zell Miller of Georgia (Dem)
+45 Republicans

Against cloture (50 votes):

Sen. Ben Nighthorse Campbell of Colorado (Rep)
Sen. Susan Collins of Maine (Rep)
Sen. John McCain of Arizona (Rep)
Sen. John Sununu of New Hampshire (Rep)
Sen. Lincoln Chafee of Rhode Island (Rep)
Sen. Olympia Snowe of Maine (Rep)
Sen. Jim Jeffords of New Hampshire (Ind)
+43 Democrats

Reports say that even more senators would have voted against the FMA amendment if it had been up for a vote.

Regardless, there is not a majority, muchless the needed 2/3rds support for the FMA. This was about election political posturing at the expense of a minority segment of the population.
