cha-cha-cha-cha-change...

AMKA has wise words: "Church should be the place we learn how to change."

Having stumbled out of a parish committee meeting recently marveling again at how normal people exhibit behavior towards others in the church that would we would never tolerate in our workplaces, I feel particularly mindful of his admonition.

From what I've heard of parish politics, it makes Congress seem a model of cooperation and civility.

I wonder why that is, too.

I'm reading Marcus Borg's book, The Heart of Christianity, and just finished a section about reclaiming the term "born again" from the right wing of Christianity. Borg points out that radical change is at the very core of Christian experience, and is preached repeatedly in the Bible. And yet...
