singing

Our evensongs have taken on a more intimate character -- although Tuesday, the vergers recorded over 130 people attending. There was probably half that number last night.

We were giving a tour of the cathedral, and last night, after evensong, one of the staff showed us the places where the first two of the Harry Potter movies were shot, and we got to go into the small monk's prison that was built to make errant monks (usually novices) to get on the straight and narrow.

There was an organ concert last night in the Cathedral, and a traveling production of "The Taming of the Shrew" in the Castle's garden, but I passed on both. We walked around a bit, had a pint of beer and went to bed.

We have two more evensong's in Durham and our last will be at a Yorkshire parish on Sunday.

Durham is one of my favorite cathedrals--I didn't realize they used it for HP. How fun to be singing Evensong there!

It is magnificent. I have really enjoyed our week here, singing each day.
