Law Dork has a sensible post on the phony, silly concerns raised by professional media types over the role of bloggers at the Democratic Convention.
He writes:
Blogging is different; we all agree on that point. That doesn't make it any less journalism than writing editorials makes one not a journalist. Bloggers, as a group, are somewhere in between diarists, columnists, reporters, and -- in some cases -- gossips. Individually, however, bloggers are simply empowered writers; if they are trying to tell the story of their times, they are journalists.
