passing

I just got word that Federal Judge John Hannah has died. John was the first Secretary of State for Governor Richards (in Texas), and prior to that he had served in the Texas legislature in the 1970s as part of the Dirty Thirty coalition, a group who had fought the powers that be. I think he had run for governor or lieutenant governor at some point as well.

John had been out of government for a while when he joined the Richard's administration. Because of his experience and age, he was not as wide-eyed as the rest of us. He was a man with a great sense of humor.

President Clinton appointed John as a federal judge for East Texas. I haven't seen him in years, but I am sorry to hear about his death. He was 64 years old.
