But what to do with the shady part of the yard, the larger part of the yard.
I cut across the middle of it with a wide bed where I intended to plant hostas on one side, and to mirrow the yews and virburnum that are across the front of the house, with the intent of making a rectangle area of grass. At some point, if the virburnam and yews get high enough, I will now have a grassy lawn area that will be semi-private, a perfect place for a nice wooden bench and perhaps a couple of wooden chairs.
But what about the rest of that side of the yard, the part toward the street that fell under the mighty sweet gum?
