Early tulips are out this week. And the redbuds are unfolding. Not completely out yet, but their haze is now apparent.
The color is unlike anything else, a shade of purple and pink mixed together that reminds me of a color in an illustrated children's book I had as a kid.
The drive to work includes a spell through a long wooded section where redbuds, an edge tree in the wild, peek out along and under the much taller hard woods. Wild and uneven, this particular sight is an awe sight for the eyes, a sensual gift temporary and other worldly.
Sadly, over winter, road crews cut and hacked back all these smaller trees along the edge of the road. They are far from the actual road, so they weren't blocking views. Perhaps their very wildness was offensive to what is now a clipped and trimmed suburb. Sensibilities were offended, and the crews hacked away.
I worry that there will be no redbud blooms this year beside the road.
