don't cry for me, mid-atlantic region...

The cicadas didn't make it to my parts of Indy. For weeks, the local media has had cicada mentions. After hearing the anchor on NPR's All Things Considered last week go outside their studios off of Mount Vernon Square in DC, I had visions of the big bugs harping away all around me, making the outside world as constantly noisy as a Vegas casino.

Didn't happen.

I've heard that in some neighborhoods, they are here. One of my neighbors told me that they didn't come in our neighborhood last time 17 years ago. Pure quiet, except for the hum of race cars over at the Speedway, the sounds I've gotten used to hearing while gardening in May.

Same here, we're blissfully free (knock on sod). The Wife went to Bloomington yesterday and said the place was covered in them. Go figure.
