Mark gives us this lovely picture of the National Cathedral (formally the Cathedral of St. Peter and St. Paul) in Washington, DC.
If you look at the bottom of the picture, you will see the roses in the Bishop's Garden. This lovely garden was designed by Fredrick Law Olmstead, Jr, (son of you know who), and is a perfectly realized garden.
In addition to being simple, yet enchanting, it also perfectly frames the most unusual of sites, a very large Gothic cathedral in the middle of an American city that didn't exist until the last decade of the 18th Century.
