I finally cut a major tree limb off today to raise the canopy in the backyard. Before I ended I pruned an old white lilac, cut down a volunteer honeysuckle tree, and cut back a gray dogwood shrub that was blocking afternoon sun into the vegetable garden. I found a little time to weed out yard violets from my borders. Now I have a huge stack of wood to break up.
At church today, I bought a flat of rocket snapdragons from one of the lady's guilds. I like tall snaps. I had three planted last year that survived a cold winter and have sent up shoots out of the roots.
I am going to have to start acting like a gardener and less like a dreamer, digging up new beds. Time to settle down, get the weeding completed, and put compost mulch down on the flower beds.
