winter

I drove to Sunday morning choir rehearsal in the middle of a short snow storm.

We began the service by having the soprano and alto sections sing the second verse of Veni, Veni Emanuel without accompaniment as they processed up the north aisle of the nave and then stopping. The tenor and bass sections followed on the third verse, processing up the center aisle and stopping. Eventually, the organ joined in along with the congregation, and we moved to the choir seats as the women sang a descant on the last verse.

The last part of waiting is often heightened.

That sounds lovely. That has always been one of my favorite Advent/Christmas songs.
