Last night, we laid out the greens in the church, long swags of juniper and pine across the rood screen, along the walls, around the lectern and pulpit, wreaths in various places, and pine wreaths around the candle stands along the main aisle. Each year, they put amidst the pine branches in the candle wreaths, twigs of young boxwood, a great touch.

And then the choir practiced with the string instrumentalists the selections from Section I of Handel's Messiah and Haydn's Sanctus and Benedictus from his St. Nicholas Mass.
