In addition to an afternoon of gardening ...
Partner and I spent Saturday in Cincinnati, which is less than a two hour drive down the road. We visited the art museum and then crossed the park to see a production of Sondheim's Company. The British director has created a style using actors as the orchestra. They play all the instruments on the stage. This sounds gimmicky, but it actually was quite powerful in merging music with the action. This production is going to Broadway, where it will join another production of Sondheim's Sweeney Todd, using the same kind of approach.
One of the actors was a cello and vocal performance major as an undergraduate. This may be the only time that he can combine those two areas in performance.
Sunday morning was Palm Sunday, the beginning of Holy Week. We gathered in the inner courtyard garden at church, and then began the joy and celebration that is quickly ended by the sober reading of the passion story read by various people in the church. I read the lines for Peter.
We sing Vierne's Kyrie and chant a couple of Taize songs during communion.
