columbus

Partner is at the Episcopal Church's General Convention in Columbus, Ohio, serving as legislative staff assistant. I went on Thursday night to check it out and came back home tonight. Columbus is about a 3 hour drive from Indy.

The convention is in the same place where Partner's mom used to attend a trade show for needlepoint wholesalers. We used to go over there and help her during the show. Now where I have strong images of yarn and needlepoint booths, our church is gathered in a 10 day meeting.

Last night, I attended the Integrity Eucharist at Trinity Episcopal Church in downtown Columbus. We sat in the balcony amid several people from the Diocese of New Hampshire. Bishop Robinson was the preacher. His message: love your enemies. After the Eucharist, the congregation sang Amazing Grace acapella and then Jesus Loves Me. The Columbus newspaper said that over 1,000 people spilled out of the church onto the street.

Today's Eucharist service had all the bishops vested. They entered in together. A woman from New Zealand who was on the Lambeth Commission preached the sermon.
