monardia revisited

My red bee balm (monardia) is re-blooming ... not as prolific as the first round earlier in the season. And the leaves don't look great. But there it is, enough red to attract late summer hummingbirds thirsty for the pollen of red.

Lord, I cut mine back hard and actually pulled one of the varieties out completely (or so I think....) What was supposed to be only 18-24 inches high turned into at least four and a half feet! I think I prefer it blooming along our mountain stream banks.
