hard rain

Another day of hard rain coming down in the early afternoon. When I turned into the driveway tonight after work, I could see the leaves that had been shot out of the culvert that runs under it.

For the past few weeks, the fireflies have been out in the early evening, blinking their yellow glow. They are particularly thick -- or noticeable -- in the garden beds, as if yellow antenna lights had been put on the top of certain plants to ward off low flying things.

So far, no tree in the townlet has been downed by high winds or lightning.

This mixture of heat and rain is making the world around here greener. The plant growth in the vegetable garden is enormous.
