Tradition

I am not sure how this got started, but it has become traditional for us to invite a few friends over for dinner during Memorial Day weekend.

We end up smoking a brisket for 12 hours, and friends bring extra things. Partner made his dad's potato salad recipe, and with the now two blooming bluebonnets in the garden, it was a Texas meal.

Mostly it rained, but in between, we could hear the race cars whirling around the Motor Speedway in the background. Our neighborhood got about three inches of rain. May turned out to be exceptionally wet, making up for the dryness of April.

Most of these folk are going with us to Italy in the fall. One friend brings a dog, and Franklin, who at times is not so friendly with new dogs, never missed a beat in playing with our friend's dog.

We sat on the screen porch, hearing the heavy rain and lightning, and chatted into the night.
